No moaaar!

Endless accounts, apps and "pling" sounds from a dozen different chat applications everyone is on nowadays. Simply refusing to use them is not an option since everyone prefers their own chatting apps.

My solution is rather simple! A "centralized" place where all chats from various platforms are getting bridged into. Meet Matrix Synapse.

What is Matrix?

Matrix is an open protocol for decentralised, secure communications.

Synapse is an open source Matrix homeserver implementation, written and maintained by Element. Matrix is the open standard for secure and interoperable real time communications. You can directly run and manage the source code in this repository, available under an AGPL license. There is no support provided from Element unless you have a subscription.

Let's talk bridges

The main reason for setting up my personal Matrix instance is that it can be used to bridge all other chats into, including replies, media and more.

The bridges I have used are:

  • WhatsApp
  • Telegram
  • Discord
  • Slack
  • Bluesky
  • Signal

The code for these bridges can be found on:
