RPG Development Progress Update

It is time to share an update about the development progress of the (soon) free to play offline RPG I am working on. Recently I have been posting short video previews on YouTube.

The overal development is going rapidly and hopefully soon I can release a first alpha version for people to test and play around with. The first few versions probably will contain some overlooked bugs that need to be fixed before releasing the beta version.

Currently I’m working on the smart enemy NPC AI system so that combat will be fun and challenging! The goal is to create a great combat experience that will make the player level up and discover the game further.

What do we have so far?

Since a RPG contains many features I started with the base and build everything on top of that. One of the more complex systems is the items, inventory, hotbar & storage system that’s now fully done and working as expected.

Here is a list of bigger game features completed so far:

  • Gathering & mining resources (trees / plants / rocks)
  • Crafting system that lets the player craft items, weapons & armor from resources
  • Stats & leveling system with a max level of 99 with 13.4 million total xp
  • Building system that lets the player build structures from crafted resources
  • Combat system with various weapon types: melee / ranged / magic
  • Advanved Enemy AI that come in 3 classes

There are still features that need to be completed before the first alpha test will be released.

  • Bossess
  • The story & cutscenes
  • Save system

The quest system will be added in the first beta release.
